Aerska Expands Global Presence with New Boston Site to Accelerate Development of AOC Platform
Aerska is pleased to announce the opening of its new site in Boston to accelerate the development of its antibody-oligonucleotide conjugate (AOC) platform, expanding the company’s potential to treat multiple therapies across a range of CNS diseases.
Established through a partnership with Bayer Co.Lab, the new site will support the buildout of Aerska’s AOC platform research capabilities, focused on improving the targeted delivery of multiple siRNA medicines to the brain through the refinement of the company’s transferrin receptor shuttle portfolio. Located within the Bayer Research and Innovation Center (BRIC), Bayer Co.Lab provides its state-of-the-art laboratory and office spaces are designed to support cutting-edge technologies, with a particular focus on cell and gene therapies for CNS and rare diseases.
The expansion marks an exciting step for Aerska into the heart of innovation within Boston and reflects the company’s ambition to grow its global presence and platform capabilities over the coming years. Boston’s established network of deep expertise in RNA therapeutics and delivery sciences makes it an ideal location for Aerska’s next stage of growth. The new site will augment Aerska's platform research capabilities, bringing together the deep expertise in RNA delivery of the US with the discovery biology expertise of the UK to advance a cross-disciplinary effort in targeted RNAi medicines for the brain.
Jack O’Meara, CEO of Aerska said: “Our expansion into Boston reflects Aerska’s ambition to build a leading integrated platform for targeted RNAi delivery to the brain by leveraging world-class scientific communities. Boston is home to an extraordinary concentration of expertise in RNA therapeutics and delivery sciences, and gives us the foundation to build on the cross-disciplinary team that a platform of this ambition demands. By bringing together the best minds across geographies, we believe we can accelerate the development of transformative medicines for patients with neurological diseases.”
Aerska’s AOC platform pairs the appropriate RNA medicine with the optimal shuttle technology in an intentionally integrated way, enabling therapies to be delivered quickly and effectively across the blood brain barrier to treat a range of CNS diseases. Through this integrated molecule design platform, the company aims to change the paradigm of CNS care, moving beyond treatment alone to delay and ultimately prevent brain disease - helping people live longer and healthier lives.
